Comfort Zone

Mon Nov 23, 2009, 11:55 AM
My latest school project has pushed me places i never thought i would go. I have always been happy painting landscape pieces - i find it so easy to see the beauty in nature that I could probably paint scenery for my whole life and be completely content. I'm not ashamed to say it took me longer to see the beauty within deformities, it's taught me that beauty can be found EVERYWHERE.

I started to think about all the times I had come out of my comfort zone. Like when i was 4 and my swimming instructor, after I had constantly refused to do backstroke for fear of drowning, told me to stop moaning, fling my arms back and get on with it. Years later i was part of the local swimming team. Or in year 10 when my art teacher gave me a board 10 times the size i was used to for my final outcome in a project. I felt like i was being stretched to my limits - skill wise, personnally... but it helped me to express myself on a larger platform whilst improving my skill in proportion too.

In the end, all of these things helped me to grow into a better and stronger person. Next time, i'm feeling like I'm moving out of my comfort zone, i'm going to try and welcome the experience more!

I'd love to hear about any of your experiences :)!!
